The first batch of The Whisky Trials coins. This is a very limited release with only 100 made. They are serialised, so numbered from 001 to 100.

What is a whisky coin?

Well they are lots of things at once, which is kind of what makes them special! First off, purchasing a whisky coin is show of support and thank you if you have purchased one it really means a lot to the whiskytube channels that sell them! A whisky coin is of course a collectable item, it feels great in the hand and makes a great fidget item to play with.

There is also a great social aspect in using them as challenge coins; you go to the pub your friend challenges you to show a whisky coin, if you don’t have one the drams are on you. If you can show a whisky coin though the drams are on the challenger.

Lastly they have an actual functional use as glencairn glass toppers or hats! Now some people might think this is a bit of a gimmick or something they see whisky snobs do but I can tell you from experience as soon as I used one of these coins on a cask strength whisky and even on more normal abv whiskies I was amazed. It really changes the nosing a lot, it creates a burst of aroma, a real concentrated dose is delivered to your nostrils. I now don’t do a tasting without them and if you are new to whisky I think they can really help you pick out aromas more easily. The coin seems to trap the aroma while letting out the harsher alcohol vapours.

So if you are debating whether whisky coins are just a gimmick and will gather dust on your shelf, they wont. You are going to use these, benefit from them and probably love them.
